My tomato-like complexion came from attending a paddle board competition somewhere on the North Shore prior to the wedding without sunblock or hat. This naive haole happened to sit on the log reserved for the organizer of the event--it was probably like crashing a party. I was oblivious, but he was friendly and engaging. It wasn't long before I found out that he was a steel fabricator, and as a draftsman for structural engineers, we had a lot to talk about.
