DOWNY WOODPECKER

I saw and identified for the first time in my backyard--or anywhere--a Downy Woodpecker yesterday.  He was quite striking with his spotted wings and red cap, which made identifying him easy. I was surprised at how calmly he went about his business just ten feet from where I was standing.

That suet must be tasty!
