The Garden Temple

The Garden Temple is an enterprise in Studio City, California, that "...designs and crafts products for garden and home. " I was disappointed to find the gate locked that Sunday in 2008 when I was visiting Southern California as I wanted to walk about the temple grounds. It's quite compelling.

In 1956 we lived in a little house around the corner, long before the neighborhood evolved and the Garden Temple came into being. Our house and most the the neighborhood has been razed and rebuilt, so it is serendipitous that the backyard where I spent so many hours as a nine year old-- alone and with my brothers-- has become a place of art and serenity.
The small shed in the picture had been one brother's chemistry lab, and later another brother's bank.
